Centerpieces

STEM Celebration

An ambitious event strategy for this year, we used numerous wings of the museum to seat the guests for dinner.

Naturally the most interesting and difficult idea was to create specialized centerpieces for each wing, the actual fabrication was the easy part.

Scientific Lanterns

Created digitally then manufactured using 3d printers. These were made in a modular fashion so that each design could be assembled in a variety of ways to make a variety of different arrangements.

There were four designs (space, science, earth and engineering) that represented each of the four dining spaces.

Acrylic Popsicles

These popsicles were designed using CAD and then CNC cut out of acrylic sheet.

Foam Flowers

The design theme was mainly floral in nature, however the event space lent itself to some taller center pieces.

For the low center pieces I built custom planters to hold low floral elements that give the illusion of a forest floor.

The tall center pieces are mostly foam, which makes up the upper

pedals and leaves.

The stem is pvc pipe that was heated up slowly and bent around a form to create the curves.

Art Deco Illumination

This was another 3d printing focused centerpiece. The inspiration came primarily from the art deco period as the theme of the event was "The Roaring 20's"

Each lamp is custom designed and 3d printed. The light source is an LED strip within the lamp and the power source is a battery that is hidden in the base.

Hokey Etchings

These centerpieces were for a hockey themed bar mitzvah.

Each etching was done by hand on a sheet of clear acrylic. These sheets of clear acrylic were then slid inside a white acrylic housing. That housing held an LED strip which illuminated the etchings on the acrylic.

Landmark Mitzvah

I was given six Boston landmarks that the client wanted displayed as large as it could be.

What you see are composites or collages of said landmarks, mounted on foam core and layered to give the whole centerpiece as much depth as it could have. The billboard structure is all wood and painted.
